Its not about which is better its that EAC was produced not to mess up. With other programs (from 2003 and prior

) you have the risk of a bad rip with a flaw in the produced file. Instead of listening to every produced file to make sure it is as good as what was on the CD (or about as good), EAC is supposed to do it without flaw.
That being said I've never had problems with other programs such as CDex or dbpoweramp - or even winamp/wmp/itunes and the like. Although I prefer to use a program that will allow me to rip it at a standard such as LAME alt-preset-standard, so that pretty much rules out the crud wmp/winamp/itunes. I've found myself using dbpoweramp for its ease of use and vast array of file type support as I'm often ripping/converting stuff to flac/musepack/ogg/LAME...
