Howdy!

I have been looking to upgrade my rig for quite some time. I've been looking at all the motherboard options and am overwhelmed by how many different choices I have!

I have read many reviews as well as googled many of the top contenders. There are a couple that I'm leaning to, but I wanted to see if there was a general consensus as to what is the best board out there for one hundred bucks. It looks like I'm limited to a 945G chipset board (possibly a 965, but most of those are over $100, I'd spring for one if it was tons better than the closest 945G board)

It'd be great if the board had firewire, but not needed. I am looking for something with a Gigabit NIC card integrated. I already have 2 GB of 667 Mhz DDR2 RAM. I don't plan on overclocking.

Before receiving any input here, I was leaning towards a ASUS P5L-VM:

The only problem is I see people have had bad luck with the NIC on that board (otherwise I would have already ordered it)

Next on my list is a Intel BOXDG965WHMKR LGA 775:

This is a tad more than I want to spend, but if there is no better alternative for my needs under $100, I may spring for this.

Thanks for the help and input!

As I understand it, 965 is the exact same as 945 as long as you don't care about OCing, so I'd say 945 should suit you just fine.
