Best e-tailer outside of CA

This didn't seem to fit in any of the merch/shopping subcategories.

Basically, I am thinking about building a new system and as a new resident of California, I was astounded by the rediculous sales tax my orders from newegg would be subject to.

I am wondering which wide-selection online retailers people would suggest which do not charge sales tax to california residents.

I feel your pain. Unfortunately, even after tax, Newegg has some of the best *sale* prices compared to other vendors. I try not to buy something if it's not on sale at Newegg. When they do offer promo code discounts on items is when I buy.

Amazon is your best bet. I've found a lot of stuff cheaper on Amazon. Not a big gap, like $5-10, but every bit helps. If I didn't have Amazon Prime I probably wouldn't bother tho as there standard shipping is ridiculously slow.

Tigerdirect, PC Connection, Directron don't charge tax but I rarely find any good deals there.

9.25% tax rate is the suck.

edit: One good thing about Cali tho is that we have Fry's 🙂 There's some good deals to be had there, even with tax. Just picked up an Antec P182 case for $70 the other day. Woot.

What matter is only one thing how much is the combination of Price + tax + ship is to bring it to your doors.

Thus low price + tax + free (0r low) ship, can be at times less than other Taxless places.

In other word use the wish list in few places and see what comes out the cheapest.

Still much better than the 13% we pay in Ontario.
NCIX based out of British Colombia doesn't charge taxes to American customers. They have a US based warehouse so there's no cross border shipping. I always buy from them because they don't charge provincial sales tax, just 5% federal tax, and shipping is free on all orders over $300. Great if you're putting together a new build.
