My friend asked me this question and unfortunately I don't have any experience with dvi out. He has a Sony SDM-M81. Which video card has the best quality dvi output? I'm just guessing a Matrox or Geforce TI200. He doesn't play games and may watch some movies. He just wants the best quality output. I searched the net and this board and there weren't to many sites focused on dvi out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

DVI output isn't going to vary as much as analog (regular VGA) output from card to card. Most of what determines the quality of an analog output on a card is the RAMDAC and the filters. These aren't present for DVI output since it's a straight digital signal. Because of this your image quality will end up depending on your LCD panel much more than the video card.

Ah so any video card with dvi output will do? His LCD is really nice already with analogue input. I'll just tell my friend to a geforce 3 ti200 then. Although a Maxtrox 550 was recommended to me. Thx.
