Im looking at maybe getting the NEC 2500a or maybe the lite-on. What is the best media out there for the 2500a, liteon and in general?

THANKS

The best media I've used thus far with my Lite-on 851s is the Ritek stuff. I've gone 10-0 thus far backing up movies with it. Prior to that, I had dismal results with the generic stuff from CompUSA and Microcenter, and mixed results with Imitation.

I bought a pack of the Ritek -R's. I've only burned about 15 but so far they work fine.

I bought a Lite-On burner a few months ago, i've burned 25 or so DVD-Rs,and countless DVD-RWs, all Memorex. Not a single mis-burn. I guess they're both just as good, get whatevers cheaper.

P.S. - I had a horrible experience with a friend's Philips DVD-RWs

My A06 seems to burn whatever I have thrown at it so far fine. Tried some Maxell, Princo's, Infosmart's.. currently using Ritek G04's just because most of my backups are movies and I want something that will last a while

Also want to throw in that I have used a couple of TDK and Memorex with no problems, and I am using Nero. The reviews at Newegg on the Ritek media look pretty good and the price isn't all that bad as long as they work. In all honesty I did make 2 duds with the Ritek, but I am almost certain that the problem was on my end so I can't blame the media for it. I plan on buying another pack before I run out of these.

I've had horrible experiences with the cheap $1cdn media from canadacomputers. I bought an exensive spindle of fujifilm DVD+Rs (they had -r's too) and have thus far burned 15 of them without a problem. They're supposed to last 100 years.

I author. Maxell. May be trying Taiyo Yuden soon though with printable surface (Maxell printables are hard to find.) Maxell is at WalMart for $20 for 10. Just saw 4X -r (light blue box). Already carry 4x +R (Orange box). Maxell does not use mfgr de jour.

Ritek or Memorex as the best media? You've got to be joking.

Memorex is a 2nd tier brand (but usually works fine), and Ritek is a 3rd tier brand.

The top tier brands are like Mitsui, Taiyo Yuden, Apple, Maxell, etc.

Just as a tidbit, the ricoh +R's are manufactured at Ritek's factories under the Quality Control of the Ricoh folks.

100+ Riteks on my Pioneer A05 without problems. But Eug is right. Mitsui, Taiyo Yuden, Apple, Maxell, those are top of the line.
