I just got my $5 coupon in my email and I want to upgrade my DVD drive.

What's the best of this list?

Pine Technology 16x DVD-ROM Drive ? PT-DV16-000U
Acer 16x Internal DVD-ROM Drive ? DVP-1648A
I/OMagic 16x Internal DVD-ROM Drive ? DRDVDR16
Universal BUSlink 16x DVD-ROM Drive ? DR16

Are these rebaged Pioneers or anything else?

Are there any reviews on these drives?

Please help me.

Rings a bell

Do they let you open the box to check it out?

Looks like the Pine has a $20 gift card mail in offer

Steer clear of the Iomagic... they seem to be VERY touch and go right now, with rumors that they dont have ANY tech support on the pay roll.

Also, their DVD drives dont support XP (just head on over to their DVD support forum if your wondering about that), so if you ever plan on going that route, thats just another reason not to buy it.

Go with something else... sure, they may be a little more expensive then the Iomagic, but its deffinitly worth the money to avoid a bad drive.

I work at BB and I would tell you to get the Acer. IOmagic is utter crap. Buslink may be ok, they mainly distribute other manufacturers hard drives(They sell seagate for their hard drives). I think Acer is the only semi-reputable brand there.
