wait, are you asking for a DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive, or a DVD recorder?

if you are just looking for a DVD/CD-RW combo drive, then the Samsung combo drive is incredible. 16x DVD, 48x CD-R and 24x CD-RW, and i picked one up at dell.com for $58 shipped a few weeks back. perfect for those single drive SSF computers.

if you are looking for a DVD recorder with CD-RW features, my Pioneer A05 is doing very well. i picked up some Ritek 4x DVD-R media and it is cranking out the movies, errrr, i mean backup data DVDs like no one's business. people like the Song DRU500 as well because it is a DVD+R and DVD-R drive (can write both media types), but i think it is overpriced, as is DVD+R media. i will stick with DVD-R and the DVD-R 4x media (at under $2 a disc too).

the LG combo drive (32x10x40x16 i think) is good enough. And LiteOn is gonna release their combo drive, I think it will be 48x24x52x16... well, i'm not sure.... But I am hoping that it will be great :)

LG's 48x24x48x16 drive has been out for a while (available in the US). And Samsung has a 52x24x52x16 drive available for sale in Asia (it will be available in the US pretty soon).
