Best Dual Processor out there for poor man

I have been reading review about dual cpu mobo's. I want to build a new rig that can handle multiple os platforms, and has the power to play demanding games and the ability to overclock. Know I can't afford the best Mobo out there, however what do you guys thinks is the best for a decent amount of money maybe 250-=300. Let me know 🙂

Asus's dual AMD board is the best.
A7M266D

you can use normal XPs on it too, which saves a bunch of money.

I beleive it does, but I haven't looked at dual cpu boards recently. The price of p4 dual is just too high.

Tyan Tiger $200
(2)1g Duron(Morgan) $100

This is the best bang for buck dual system, the 1.0 most likely will do 1330@133fsb.

Actually, far as I know, you can run dual XP's in ANY AMD dual motherboard. (Anyone correct me if I'm wrong)

I know that dual XPs for sure will run just fine on the MSI board as well.

Tyan? No overclockability in the BIOS at all, and I've been seeing problems posted about RAM chips dying in this board. The benchmarks between Asus and MSI boards are almost dead even, with the exception that Asus gets a nod in Linux kernel compiling.

I don't know of any other manufacturers with a dual AMD board other than Asus, MSI, and Tyan. If I had to buy one RIGHT NOW (and they are all in the same price range) I would probably pick the Asus by the slimmest of nods over MSI, and only because of one single bothersome capacitor on one edge that seems to be ill-placed for some cases to accomodate the board.

Why oh why isn't there a dual board for AMD yet (XP/MP) that supports RAID?

Still too new I guess?

Do you want IDE or SCSI RAID? I don't know of many manufacturers who are integrating SCSI RAID on their boards anymore. Your best bet would be to get a Mylex AccelRAID from Hypermicro.

If you mean IDE RAID, why bother? I mean, this isn't an enthusiast motherboard. I'm surprised anyone even puts IDE ports on SMP motherboards.

actually it seems dual boards are getting to be used more and more for enthusiats

but besides that some of the dual amd boards will have have onboard ide raid. one i know of for sure is the Gigabyte GA-7DPXDW, and i belive the MSI K7D Master has the option for raid
