Best DSL provider in the LA area...

Hey guys,

Currently Im using Veri-suck for my ISP and Hosting. Im finally
deciding to leave the dark ages and move into the 21st century by
looking at DSL.

So who is the best DSL provider in the LA area? I live in Long Beach
and our telco is GTE.

Im interested in who you recommend and who to stay the hell away from.

ChiaBrit.

Go to dslreports.com and type in your zip code and that will give you referels to companies who provide service and how the people rate it.

GTE is now Verizon for dsl too so you'll still be stuck with them. I use mminternet.com, very solid, 4hours downtime in 5 months, static ip, expensive at 50. Verizon's pppoe service is 40 and is decent in some areas. Apparently they now use dhcp instead of pppoe in the westwood area.

Well if you want the BEST residential DSL provider, id go with Speakeasy.net but be prepared to pay a hefty pricetag, although they have the best stuff by far. Generally you get 2 or more static ips, linux shell, web space, and a lot more. Along with great reliability, tech support, and pings lower then you would have dreamed. Id goto them except im too cheap, im stuck with my dsl isp who doesnt know how to configure a router.

speakeasy rocks... I had them up at school in Santa Cruz, and I had no complains with them... do what tripleshot said and go to dslreports.com - I have a friend that lives in Long Beach, and he has speakeasy- I'm pretty sure that Covad has some lines leased at your C.O. as well, so you can go with them. Speakeasy is a little pricey, but they are definately worth it- pings were great (10 pings to my gateway, 30 pings west coast) and downloads were great as well.
