I got the fascinate and am loving it. It's nice out of the box, but rooting makes it much better (especially because you can de-Bing the phone).

IMO the Droid Incredible has the best form factor. the droid 2 seems nice, though.

I was interested in the Fascinate for a little while until I realized that the Incredible was just as good, and not crippled by Verizon (compared to the other Galaxy S versions).

shit wrong forum, sorry!

but yeah, so from what I understand they need to be rooted so you can take all the shit out of it, and get better battery life.

Loving my Droid X.

My wife has a Droid 2 and it is nice as well if you need a physical keyboard.

wrong forum.

I would wait for the HTC Merge (vzw adaptation of the G2) that just got delayed, it is getting an LTE radio instead of CDMA so it'll be a few months, but definitely worth waiting for.. there is complete crap on VZW right now if you want to hack your phone. The DINC/D1 are it, and you don't want one of those when there are already better phones out there.

Samsung made the Galaxy S (1GHz processor, 4" OLED screen etc), then made several variants based on it - Fascinate, Captivate, Vibrant etc. Same guts, but with different plastic on top.

HTC Incredible, Droid X, Droid 2

Take your pick. The Samsung Fascinate is nice and has an incredible screen, but it is crippled and has lots of stuff locked to Bing instead of being able to use Google, which is fucking lame as hell.

The HTC is very nice. The Droid X is awesome if you like doing video/photo type stuff on your phone, though it is larger. The Droid 2 is smaller and more normal phone sized. It does have a keyboard, but it sucks. Both the Droid X/2 have Swype texting, which I find to be better than the physical keyboard on the Droid 2. The HTC does not come with Swype. I went with the X myself because I like the large screen and I can hook it up to a TV/Projector via HDMI to show things to clients. Battery life on all three probably sucks, but they are fast - I believe each has a 1GHz processor of some sort. I think HTC uses snapdragon while Motorola uses a TI OMAP chip, which from what I understand is better than the snapdragon.

hmmmmm....I'm under the impression you can unlock the fascinate, and free it from Bing? (I personally prefer Bing, but I don't like being forced to use it...)

And yet Galaxy S's are still the fastest phone of the 3:

With the brightest screen (Super AMOLED). Good luck reading a Droid X in the sun, and it still easily edges out Incredible's screen (normal AMOLED). Droid X also doesn't have a TV Out.

Samsung > *.

Creating a shortcut to Google isn't hard for one touch access when the browser is launched. I put the Bing shortcut on a screen I never look at anyway.

Loving my Droid X.

My wife has a Droid 2 and it is nice as well if you need a physical keyboard.

the physical keyboard was something i needed in whatever phone i got. then i seen the R2 version of the Droid and the geek in me came out and ordered it.

gotta say i really love the droid 2. its a great phone. just wish the battery was longer and glad i have unlimited (hahahah yeah right) internet.

though at home i have the docking station for it and in the car i have the car mount and power cord. so the battery life is not to much a issue.

I'd get a Galaxy S if I had to pick one now, but I'm not happy enough with any of the current offerings to take the plunge.

Not into the physical keyboards, personally.

What kind of battery life are you getting? Hasn't really been a problem with my wife's phone and she's a pretty heavy user of it.

it last most the day. though i admit i have the wifi and gps on all the time.

its really low compared to my Samsung Omnia i had. it would last 2-3 days without having to be on the charger. with the Droid i have to do it daily or its almost dead after a day of heavy use.

LOL you're a moron.

I don't have problems reading my Droid X screen. If it's in the sun, I just turn up the brightness and it's fine. For me at least. I suppose if I angle it so the sun is reflecting right in it that wouldn't work, but who does that?

Droid X has an HDMI out....if that's not a "TV Out" then I don't know what is.

The problem with the Bing stuff is that it is what is integrated. You can remove it but I believe it involves rooting the phone, etc. You can't use Google services integrated like they are on every other phone. The integrated searches can't be changed from Bing without either rooting it or some serious changes. It's just stupid. If they want to offer Bing, still give the option to switch it back to Google if you want.

So no, Samsung < *

Not true. The Droid X has some stuff - one thing is CityID is preinstalled and you can't uninstall it and it's only a trial and it wants you to buy it. There are a few other things that cannot be removed like Amazon MP3, Backup Assistant, Blockbuster, and Skype Mobile. I'll never use any of that but I can't get rid of it - at least not without rooting or something I guess.

Loving my droid x. Easily my favorite smartphone out of the fascinate, droid 2, or droid inc. People talk about the screen size like its a bad thing, but i dont know if ill ever go to anything smaller (provided something that size is always available). Doesn't have a problem fitting in pockets whatsoever, and its the first phone ive been able to type well on the screen as opposed to physical keyboard.
