I know it has been asked before but I am unsure on a few things so here it goes.

I have a 6800GT with a nforce3 MSI Neo2 Plat board. What drivers are the best and do i need to uninstall my drivers for both before installing the new ones? My friend has been telling me about modified ones...how much do they improve things and what extra settings do i get out of it.

The Omega drivers are supposed to improve performance very slightly. You also get extra panels to tweak 3D settings and clock speeds, etc.

I hvae a 6800GT, also. I generally get the latest WHQL certified drivers from nVidia, or sometimes www.guru3d.com (usually, guru3d.com just links back to nVidia.com anyways for the WHQL certified drivers). I don't mess with beta drivers, nor do I like to keep hold of out-dated drivers once new versions are released. Right now, I believe the latest Forceware version from nVidia is 81.95.

Also, when I update my driver, I always uninstall the previous one first. This might not be necessary, but I think its overall a more complete and clean way of doing it.

I have the same board and same card. Using 81.85 drivers have fixed all my video problems that have plagued alot of NF3/6800 owners. I still leave AGP Fastwrites off though just to be safe.

Uninstalling is not required, but is usually considered a good pratice. I use the XG 81.85 drivers soley because they have coolbits built in. I'm sure there are some other minor differences in the XG drivers from the official Nvidia ones, but I'm not sure what they do.

Omega drivers are not supported by companies and you get zero support if you use them. Plus their performance increases are only slight, and that's if you don't have serious instability issues.
