Best drivers for 9800pro?

I just upgraded from a ti4600 to a 9800pro and get a few bugs in a few games. I used driver cleaner & then installed the newest (4.6?) cats. I remember with the ti4600 that newer drivers (5x.xx, namely) caused bugs & gave me a low 3dmark score, but that older ones (43.45 & 44.03) fixed all that - is it the same with ATi cards? Am I better off with an older set of cats or omegas, and if so which ones?

Would kind of like to know myself. Got my card yesterday and just went with Cat 4.7 because I read somewhere it was stable. Haven't had any problems thus far but if there's a better driver for a 9800Pro, then I'd like to know as well.

I have been using Cat 4.8s for the last week or two. Just as stable as 4.7s so far (which is to say I have had no problems).

Seems that 4.6 would be fine.

4.7 and up are fixes for minor game anomalies but major work for x800 series and not with 9800pro and older.

The only reason id see to upgrade to a newer driver is due to something like geometry instancing in farcry. That is, if you are like me and using the 1.2 patch (even though it was recalled but appears fine to me on a fresh install even after going through 1/2 the game) you will notice an increase in your framerate in farcry and potentially any future game that will be using geometry instancing. The 4.8's are the first drivers that enable the 9800p to use geometry instancing and i believe they also provide some minor doom 3 increases in framerate.

Sorry for that rant above, but basically the summary is that i reccomend the 4.8's due to them having the most bug fixes in current games, as well as you being able to use geometry instancing in current and future games. As far as older drivers go, they all have minor increases/decreases in framerate depending upon the game you play. The newer the driver, the more stable it will be (usually).
