Best Driver for x800 series

Hi,

Like the title says, I am trying to find the best driver for the radeon x800 series.. I have a vanilla. I have googled it to death with little luck. Any help in this area appreciated.

Just use the latest official drivers unless you have a reason to use another version. Also, in case you dont want the bloated Catalyst Control Center, install only the base driver and then use Ati Tray Tools to tweak all the settings.

So there isn't one catalyst that is better than another for the x800 series? It seems that people are often stating how one driver release is better than another for a particular series, especially if it is an outdated series.

Everyone has their opinions. I've owned two x800 series cards in the past, and did not see much difference from using older or newer drivers. It may be that the newer drivers provide little or no improvement over the older drivers for an outdated card, but I've never experienced worse performance from newer drivers.

I own the X800XT PE since Catalyst 4.9 and I had to say that one of the biggest jump was from 4.11 to 4.12 which brough performance to Doom 3, also the 5.12 that increased performance on Dual Core/HT CPU's, and also the 5.7 that brought more performance tweaking the Memory Controller and improving performance on 256MB cards. The 6.11 that I'm using right now increased the performance of my card in many benchmarks and some games. For me, the best ones currently are the 6.11.
