I have NEVER used any of those programs and my downloads always max out my connection.

I think they are useless unless you are on dialup.
 
eh, they are useful on flaky servers and stuff.

and for downloading tons of files easily. for pictures pixweb/quadsucker is better at processing links though.
 
I use DAP. Don't know if it's the best but I just want something so when I download a big file, I can resume it, if I lose the connection and it accomplishes this just fine.
 
i had DAP but it kept opening stuff that i didn't want it to. Like i'd click on a link to a video that someone here posted, and fscking DAP would launch itself and try to download it instead of letting WMP play it. and no, DAP wasn't my default downloaded either. POS!!!
 
Another vote for DAP 5.

Then again I haven't tried any others, but for both my cable and home and my lan at school DAP definately increases DL speed, most times by a few 100%
 
I've used Getright, and it works well for me for resuming downloads (I'm on dialup). Mozilla's resume function royally sucks because it never works. :frown:
 
I believe that FlashGet has spyware. So far, I prefer GetRight because it has so many features and it has FileMirrors.com to help me find mirrors.

happy clicking then. if've you've ever used quad sucker to drain every single picture off a site, its quite convenient.

its like look! i want those 300 pictures. option A, i click over 300 times,. option b i let quadsucker do it.

useless? i think not.
 
I use Net Vampire. It's free and it works perfectly.

I've used it for about three years and I've never had a single problem with it.

The best answer would be what you`re happy with,I`ve used only two which are DAP and GetRight and both have been very good on stability etc.

Just try a few different ones and see what you prefer.

hMN? sTABLE? The biggest issue I have with all the d/l progrs that I have used are:
a) Stability
b) Spyware
c) Ads
d) Sheer annoyance of attempting to take computer hostage and run the show....(DAP users agree with me here!)

Having said that I can't see myself not using these progs cuz....i'm on dialup...
