I'm registering a domain for an external (out of house) Zimbra server setup and I'm just curious what a good registrar is that has good DNS controls (NS, MX, subdomains, ect). This is the first time I've registered my own name (all my jobs the names and DNS were just thrown at me) so I don't know what's reallly good out there. GIVE ME THE ATOT! please :p.

The best domain registrar is NameCheap.

Why are you buying DNS services from your registrar? Can't you manage them from a DNS server somewhere? I've never used NameCheap's services, just domain registration.

Ugh...they are FAR from the best...I'd like to know what you're smoking.

A decent company that gives you professional level control and support for pretty low prices is Network Solutions. If this is for work, there's no reason to save a few dollars for service you're going to switch away from again later - which will cost you more and perhaps your job...

I can't stand to use GD or 1a1. So i've went with Namecheap. My buddies used them and have had no issue. One in the biz has 148 domains registered with them :p.

Buy the domains from Namecheap or whatever and use Zoneedit.com for their free DNS service.

They probably aren't the best, compared to Network Solutions... but I know few people that use Network Solutions (even businesses) that would be asking such a question to ATOT. *shrug*

Namecheap, zimbra eh, we have it at work, make an account on their bugzilla and start submitting because that is what it takes to get things fixed.

We Agree!
I do that, and move many of my clients over to google apps for the end of all mail headaches.
