Hey y'all,

So I'm looking at using NetworkSolutions to register a domain name, mainly because they are a recognizable name and should be top notch (I hope). They seem a little expensive though, so are there any other companies that I should look at? Both from a price, and/or service and reliability point of view.

Thanks!

Welcome to AT Network Forum.

What is the service that your are expecting from a Registrar?

The process is done by automatic computers system to begin with.

Unless you have a specific need that is not available through general registrar it does Not matter who you are using as long as it adhere to this,

http://www.ezlan.net/myip#domain

As an example: http://www.Goddady.com is one of most inexpensive one that provides adequate service.

Thanks, it's a pleasure finally participating in the AT Forums. For now, I'm simply interested in purchasing a single domain name. It will eventually be used by a startup. At the moment, we do not have any extensive needs, and would just like to lock up the name. It looks as if GoDaddy should be adequate for now. Am I correct in assuming, that in the future as our needs grow, we should be able to transfer the domain to another registrar as we see fit?

I definately recommend GoDaddy, been using them for about 5 years and service is excellent and prices are reasonable. Network Solutions IMHO is a horrible registrar. And yes, you can transfer domains to different registrars as long as they can register that specific root domain (.com, .net, .org, etc)
