This will be for displaying to a large audience. A project would probably be the best bet but unfortunately it's going to be for outside use during the day. The picture is definitely going to be washed out if it's even visible at all. Plasma is great for price/size ratio but the glare from the glass screen might be a problem. So it seems LCD would be the best choice?

Not to mention that LCD is brighter than plasma. I wouldn't even try a plasma outdoors.

What size screen are we talking about ?
People don't use them much now with LCD but when the old CRT with curved screens were popular anti-glare filters were used. They are basically a really fine wire/plastic mesh that hangs over the screen. Makes it viewable in even bright sunlight. This isn't the same thing as coatings or films that are applied to the screen itself.

Ok, for a large audience outdoors, I don't know if either plasma or LCD would fit the bill. A plasma wouldn't do well outdoors, and with an LCD you'd have to specifically look for one with a matte screen. On top of that, a large LCD is going to be pretty expensive, and even if you could buy a 70" LCD, it may not be large enough for a large outdoor crowd. Maybe get a bunch of LCDs?

Define large? In terms of screen size and audience area size.
