Yes, it's uh, that time of year. THE TIME WHERE I CHOOSE A NEW DISHWASHER DETERGENT!

That's right, I live a life of excitement and awesomeness.

Currently, I'm using liquid Electrosol and I'm not pleased with the results. What does everyone use?

Damn, I was all set to recommend this Dawn detergent that we get that has a built in air freshener in the base of the bottle. Now everytime I walk into my apartment it smells like apples and pears instead of failure.

But I see you're talking about an automatic dishwasher, not the manual kind.. sorry :(

I have had good luck with the dish tabs. We were buying a bulk box of detergent at Sam's Club and it would lose effectiveness as time went on. We don't have that problem with the tabs. They are wrapped airtight. The last ones we used were Cascade. We bought Electrosol Powerball tabs this time. They work just as well.

I pretty much exclusively use things with enzymes in it. They are usually in the form of a individual packet. The enzymes dissolve the food and the detergent then can wash it away. Everyone who complains about the dishwasher running poorly seems to be using the liquid non-enzyme stuff (often Cascade but there are other liquid brands). Consumer Reports had to rescale their dishwasher reviews since all dishwashers did so well once they started using the enzymes.

The enzymes won't do everything. Sometimes elbow grease is the only method and that too may fail. But enzymes packs work well when many non-enzyme liquids fail.

Cascade and Electrasol make the enzyme packs. I think Walmart has a store brand too.

Just buy a normal brand liquid dishwasher soap. If you get store brand cheapo stuff, they just dilute it.

don't get Cascade actionpacs, they tend to stick to the wall of the detergent dispenser, as soon as we run out of it, we are switching over to liquid.

Cascade Complete. But it's outlawed here.

With bleach in the little pouch thingers!

No, the powder. But this county has outlawed all dish washing detergents with phosphates in them so I'll never get to try the pouches (legally!) We just go to Idaho and buy the good stuff now.

Jet-Dry?
Never used it, but the commercials may make someone think it's the best on the market.

We use Cascade powder.

little packets of cascade with "Dawn" built in. Its little pouches that contain pre-measured powder detergent, and on the other side some liquid detergent.

Best stuff on the market IMHO and I've tried em all. Liquid doesn't dissolve food as well, and powder tends to not get the greasy stuff.

We switched out for these too. Really like them. The powder stuff would leave a bit of grime on the the glasses from time to time. These seem to be a little cleaner.

I think ours are the Electrosol with the little red button on top.

If the wall of the detergent dispenser is wet, this will happen dry the inside and cover of the dispenser so that its dry. Then it will release properly.
