I still haven't bothered to check somewhere about their quality (mainly because I don't want one), but Aldi's (the grocery chain) has 2MP digital cameras for $99 And they have 4.1MP (I think) for (299?)
I had considered the $99 for my kids, but if I remember right, it had 8MB internal memory, but didn't have a card included.

Pics from my A40.... using macro lens though...
My biggest complaint about my A40 is that the macro sucks... (not that great for narrow depth of field either). Only way around it is to get a close-up filter or put a magnifying glass(or something similar like a jeweler's loop) in front of the lens. That said, it's still an awesome cam for someone who's just starting out (like me :))

I was very impressed with the Nikon 4300. Awesome macro performance.

I wound up with the S50 but the 4300 is a heck of a camera for the money.

Assuming you didn't get raped on shipping $218 is a decent price, what extras does it come with?

What condition is the A60 in?

I never had digital camera before

Nope, I think the Canon PowerShot A60 is better suited for a beginner.

It still takes fantastic high quality pictures, has automatic and some manual controls, uses CF media and a lot more.

$250 out the door at your local BB B&M.

Agreed, although I'd prefer the A70 over the A60 (extra pixels help a lot if you need to crop your shots).

Personally I'm a fan of Olympus' Ultra Zoom models and would suggest the C-740UZ for its great zoom and macro shots.... or the 750 if you can afford it! ;)

The best deal right now I think is the minolta S414.

Its a 4 mp camera with 4x optical zoom, uses compact flash and comes with a 16mb cf.

Its about $330 right now. Look around.
