Ages ago I created 2 CD's that I could use to wipe hard drives, create partitions, and do a lot of other useful things with PC's when I was building them.

One was called "Hiren's Boot CD", and the other was called "Ultimate Boot CD". I noticed today that some of the utilities on mine are REALLY dated. For example, one of the partition creation utilities had an upper size limit of roughly 780 Gigabytes. My new hard drive is 3 Terabytes.

Can anyone recommend a free and up to date utility boot CD to replace these old ones?

UltimateBootCD is still around I think.

However, when creating partitions and such, just use the OS of choice. Each OS has tools to get the job done properly, and likely in the best fashion for that OS. The only tool outside the box of most OS's is a low level format tool to wipe disk data, and for that UltimateBootCD should be fine.
