Best decade ever for music?

Hmm ....
1820s ... Beethoven wrote the 9th, considered by many to be the greated musical piece of all time.
1990s .... Opeth started.
2000s .... Opeth still kicking ass

I'd say probably the 1820s, then the 1990s.

Definetely the 90's

Grunge (some of the greatest rock bands ever)
Alternative Redefined (various genre's and sub-genre's sprang up - redefining alternative rock)
Industrial
Goth
Electro
Techno
House

Many kinds of music, that may have started in the late 80's, matured and changed in the 90's.

My favorite bands range too much through time. To choose one decade would be a sin. 😛 As the years go on, the newer bands I listen too have their influences from the older bands I listen to so it's all relative. So... from The Rolling Stones to Guns N' Roses with everything in between sounds good. 😀 Speaking of which, I'm seeing the Stones in the 10 days and Queen + Paul Rodgers in March. 😀

McCarthy'ism at its finest!

No kidding. Ever read that article that's passed around from the "Home and Garden" magazine from the 50s? It talked about how women "belong in the kitchen" and when they talk to their husbands, the husband's topic of conversation is always more important.

Oh, and black people to the back of the bus.

All women should be housewives.

Being gay is evilll!!!

Atheism is a mental disorder.

Anyone who disagrees with you is automatically a "commie."

Yeah, the 50s were a great time.

despite that some of the greatest names in rock and roll got their start in the 50's. so thpppppppft.

Hm... how about 67-77... or expanding just a tad more, 64-79.

Too late.. Beatles, Stones Satisfaction?, Yardbirds, Animals, Orbison, Elvis, beach boys, Righteous Brothers, James Brown, Marvin gaye etc all in there prime in 1965.

The expansion is good however what were great past 75? You like beegees? Or Zeppelin outakes?

Never been a big fan of the Stones, Orbison or Elvis... if I had to pick one ten year span, that would be it.
Pink Floyd was still putting out great stuff all the way up until 1980, the Cure didn't get their start until the late 70s. Also The Cars, Boston, Tom Petty, Peter Gabriel, etc. Punk wasn't really born until the late 70s. People look and all they see is disco, but there was good stuff going on, and led to the stuff from the 80s that was actually good.
