Could you guys please direct me to some good deals for a hsf (si-120 or xp-90 or you can reccomend me something else).

The hsf will be for an Opteron 165 and this is my case: COOLER MASTER RC-531-SSN1 CENTURION STEEL TOWER W/OUT WINDOW

I removed the hdd rack because I have a coolermaster HD cooler 6, but it only came with 1 case fan in front of the hdd rack, so I need to add one on the side of the case (a slot is already cut out) and one on the back.

Plz recommend me the best fans/ hsf for my cpu.

Thanks. (btw, no real budget, but I would like to get a good deal)

There are reviews for HSs stickied at the top of this forum.

Best bang-for-the-buck is the XP-90 in aluminum. Jab-Tech.com has it at the same price w/o tax and unpadded shipping. For a fan you want atleast 50cfm.

I can see the reviews.. but I want to know if any of them are on sale. Also, just any 50cfm fan? Or should I go with a paticular brand. Thanks

Again there are so many different fans on the market....
Do you want quiet?
Do you want CFM`s instead?
Do you want a comprimise between the 2?

Alot of people use the Delta fans...
Alot of people use the panaflo fans (yet I am told they are sort of noisy but work very well)
People also use the ThermalTakr Smart fans that have over 90+ cfm(air flow) but are over 40+dba at maximum airflow....they also come with a fan speed controller that allows you to quiet them down when you don`t need them cranked all the way...

Then there is the Coolermaster Fans...that are very quiet as well as adequate airflow when maxed....
The Coolermaster fans have a 40+ CFM but at maximum rpm are only 22dba...

Then you also have to make sure you get the right fan becuase many of these companies also have various fans that have different specs.....

Some have fans they call there quiet series but alot of these so called quiet series fans have only a 20+ cfm with a 18 04 even an 11dba....

No airflow ususally means a quiet fan...and the oposite is also true...
alot of air flow usually means noisy fan.

So look for a compromise....
I for one feel that if you have at least 40+.
cfm that your fan will make your heatsink perform at its optimum.

Alot of usd have fans that are what I would call over kill yet its also for our own peace of mind!!

So good luck!!

For the XP-90 a 92x25 Panaflo is generally used but in my bench testing of Pans vs Delta Triple Blades i much prefer the deep sound of the Delta when both are at full song.
A Pan will cost you around $10, a Delta Triple in 92x38 @57cfm about $16.50. The Delta has a smaller more airodynamic hub and will get better air flow to the center.

If you need uber quiet, go with a HS that takes a 120mm fan because at 60cfm a 120x25 is near silent.

To view the DTs...sidewindercomputers.com or epowerhousepc.com.

I am installing a DT @ 79cfm(iirc) on my XP-90C but it will be on a Sunbeam Rheobus. This fan as well as the 57cfm DT will stutter start at 3.5V and run well at 4V. Bargains do exist when it comes to buying cooling fans but i don't want a bargain fan singing to me everytime the rig is pushed hard.

Thanks for all the help. So where would be the best place to buy a Delta or panaflo fan?

I think I am going to buy that xp-90 (couldn't find a cheaper price) and than add a delta or panaflo.

Also, does brand matter for case fans? or is it just really for your hsf that you need a really good fan?
