What's the best deal on reasonably good and reasonably priced USB speakers? I would like to spend no more than $60 or so, and would like pretty good sound. It needs to be USB cause the PC doesn't have a standard sound card. Thanks guys....My email:

Well we all know this should be in the I WANNA but whatever. USB speakers only allow for software control to the best of my knowledge. It allows you to adjust the volume and change the sound level coming out of the speaker. You can't have speakers without a sound card. Sorry but you are out of luck anyway without a sound card.

The 305's are control only, as probegt mentioned. For real USB audio, stick with the ADA 70's, the MS DSS 80's, or the Philips 330's (the 350 and 370 speakers are a little on the huge side for me...the 330's are small, but still sound good). Check out shopper.com for the prices...I see the 350's (same as the 370's but no sub) are listed at one place for $20.

usbworkshop.com is a great place to go for more details.

You dont need a soundcard to play music if you have usb speakers. And the DSS speakers are very nice. I've owned mine for 2 years now and it's still got a lot of kick.

to settle this - basically the soundcards are built into usb speakers it is like for example an external modem compared to a internal modem, this is basically an external sound card!

I hope that clears up what this guy was askin!

you guys are the best. I ordered the Philips DSS 370s from egghead for 56 dollars shipped. Thanks. Let's see how they sound on my Iopener (which will now be my official kitchen, dining room MP3 server).
