I know there was a discussion on this topic in a thread in the hot deals category like 2 months ago, but I never got a chance to read everyones suggestions/comments/thoughts, when do you think the best time/day to list auctions is?

I read the one that said start on friday night (7-9pm EST), 5 day auction to end wed night.....that way you hit the weekend crowd and somewhat busy weekday crowds.....

I used to do tues-sun, but someone told me sunday is a bad day to end....

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts or strategies are...i'm going to list an item or 2 soon....

my understanding was that 7 pm PST was the time when ebay has the maximum load. So I usually end on SUndays. Maybe I have been doing the wrong thing all along.

I try to end my auctions on Saturday night between 8 pm and 10 pm CST. Seems to be working for me. I also only run 5 day auctions. 7 days just delays the close and I seldom pick up any more bidders. The only time I will run 7 days is if I want it to end on a particular night.

I've had about 300 sales in the past 8 months or so and I would say that the best time to end an auction is Sunday night. I haven't read documentation that supports my claim, but I do take eBay quite seriously and follow trends in my selling times and bidders. Also, if you search for the subject eBay on this forum & maybe the hot deals forum you can read further analysis as to why I believe Sunday's are the best days to end an auction....

Ya that was pretty much what I originally thought and what I practiced for the longest time until I read that thread 2 months ago, then I tried the friday night thing and that satisfied me just as well, I got what I wanted, for my sales.... I'll probably put up an auction tomorrow night to end sunday (5 day...)

In almost 6 years, my wife and I have had about 1,800 auctions on fleabay. This isn't our primary source of income. I just wheel and deal a lot with computer parts and know what I'm buying/trading for, er...... uh...... usually.

When I started selling there in 1996, Saturdays during the winter around noon was the best time. Then I began to reason that, with the exception of winter, most people go out of the house on the weekends. I know my wife and I try to go for a meal or visit with friends on weekends. Sometimes we go shopping or just get out of the house for a few hours. We have had auctions end on Sunday night with reasonable success as well.

In my opinion, primetime is from 10:00 PM - 11:00 PM EST (7:00 PM - 8:00 PM PST), Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday evening from 9:00 - 11:00 PM EST. The middle of the day when everyone is at work is normally the best time to buy. I've bought one item through fleabay (a Cisco router) from a reputable seller.

I would have to agree with burnedout as well. I seem to have the best results on Sunday night, 9:00-11:00pm EST as well. This way, you get both the East coast and West coast people that are home buying things on ebay. Tues-Thurs at night makes sense as well, if you just take a minute a think about it, it all makes perfect sense. People are home at night, people go out on Fri night, Sat/Sun day, etc.
