Best CPU for my board

Mr Pants,

Welcome!

Socket 939 CPUs are getting scarcer these days, but here are some at Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...rocessorsAMD-_-NA-_-NA

My last socket 939 CPU was an AMD X2 3800+ and it performed quite well. Be careful of buying OEM chips though - you don't get a HSF, and they well may be returned or used. Do a Google search for the chip you decide on and try to find a "Retail" version.

Thanks for the info. Will the 64x2 and Dual Core Processors on this list also work though? I know they match the socket, But my card doesnt say that it supports them from what I remember. Thanks again.

Mr Pants,

Here's the MSI web site for that mobo: http://www.msicomputer.com/pro...Neo4_Platinum&class=mb It says it supports X2 Dual Core CPUs and lists them. Take a look.

It you have any doubts, pick a CPU and call MSI Tech Support. I'm sure they can tell you for sure...

Noel

Quick edit - this web site is for the Platinum. There is also a page on their web site for the Platinum SLI. Noel

Thanks a bunch. I was able to find the list CPUs that work for that board. Quick Bios update and flash and my old board can now do a little better.

Thanks again.
