If all else is mostly equal and choosing based strictly on the CPU and your tasks, I'd take the Pentium B940. It is a 2GHz dual core Sandy Bridge with 2MB cache and 3D performance similar to HD 2000, but with no QuickSync, no Hyperthreading, no Turbo.

I agree with this...

Also ya if that laptop gets a SSD things will be blazing fast, already you will notice difference with more RAM and what not.. gl

The most resource intensive app I use is Dragon Naturally Speaking

Dragon likes raw CPU power--the more the better. If you shortchange it, you will get frustratingly slow response. I'd spend as much on CPU power as your budget will allow to the extent that Dragon performance is a critical requirement.

On the other hand, if you use Dragon only occasionally or can live with slow response, disregard.

I'm not sure Lenovo has anything in your price range. I've decided my next laptop will be one. Not sure which one yet.
If Canada has their web site with daily and weekly deals should be worth a look.
Basically you seem to pay extra for quality in smaller notebooks.
I look at the Edge, the Idea Pad, and the Think Pad. Bottom line mostly.
Though Asus "included " accident policy is a distraction.
