Best CPU for a low usage Server??

Hi Fellas, long time lurker somewhat new poster. I can't get a good answer from my research.
But here is my question. I'm building a new server which is mainly going to be for burning CD's/DVD's, and as an FTP storage server. There will be plenty of data transfer but not much else.

I can't decide between an AMD or an Intel CPU. AMD is kicking butt for gaming, but for a machine like this am I better to go with Intel and HT? Would a nice new AMD 64 90nm CPU be just as fast?
I've got all the other components other then the Mobo and memory decided on, just searching for some opinions on this last crucial piece. I also don't want to overspend if I really won't notice a difference.

Also just as a price barrier. Looking to spend no more then around $500 for the CPU/Mobo/Memory

Thanks for any advice.

Hmmm I think the CPU is a bit more important then that. Right now my server has an AMD 1800XP in it which is already faster then an Intel 1ghz. Ripping huge .rar files right now can take 15-20min.
Any other suggestions?

I hadn't given any thought to the Celeron screwface, but your right. Nice little chip for what I'll be doing and should be plenty. Also right around $100. Thanks for the advice.

Athlon 64 2800+. "Cool n Quiet" runs the CPU at 1GHz when not under heavy loads, saving power and heat, and if you want really fast .rar times go with a 64-bit OS.
