Best CPU fan for Socket 478

I have an old 2.53 ghz Northwood P4 processor, and it's running a bit hot. I've been meaning to get a better fan for overclocking and such, anyway, and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a good cooler, brands, etc.

I need some case fans for my Chieftec case as well. Anyone have any good suggestions for quiet, good 80 mm fans? I hear the Panaflows are nice.

The one with the lowest thermal resistance out there right now is the Thermalright XP series. The XP90 should fit your system, the XP120 might not (because it's a lot bigger). You'll have to buy a fan for it separately.

Fans: Panaflos are indeed nice.

HTH.

Reply I would recomend one of the thermalrigh heatsinks, either the SP-94 or XP-90, pretty much the best you can get, or a zalman 7000 would also be great.

Also, anyone have any good resources for methods of improving airflow and neatening up wires in your PC?

Try using round cables: http://www.newegg.com/app/manufactory.asp?catalog=317&DEPA=0

Meh. I prefer my ribbon cables--easier to manipulate (fold them; observe in the second picture) to put behind the mobo tray and such.

Just route all your wiring in the case so that it's out of the way, and maybe sleeve/zip tie big PSU cables.

Here's what I mean (mind you, I didn't put any effort into this--no zip ties were added to those few that were already on the PSU when I got it):

Oh, and as for an HSF, the XP-90 and Zalman 7000 (SVC has a clone of the 7000 on their website for about $12) are great.
