I'm so confused on what to buy. There are so many manufacturers and so many options to choose from.

I'm planing to build a new system with a XP2500 "Barton". I also want to overclock the CPU to around 2200Mhz. I would like to know your opinion on what to purchase?

Thanks!

I have the same CPU and I am extremely happy with my Thermaltake Silent Boost which cost me $24 from newegg.com....right now I have the cpu clocked to 1930mhz and it is running at 46C and thats only because it's a hot day and i only have one case fan...on an average day it runs at 39C, much cooler than my old Athlon 1800+ not overclocked and with stock heatsink/fan...and the best part about the Silent Boost is that you can't even hear it (not joking on that one). Also, if you really dont care about noise but want to overclock your CPU with low temps, then you can replace the stock Thermaltake 80mm fan with a Vantec Tornado 80mm which moves almost 3 times as much air (but with more than 3 times the noise), or maybe even a quieter 80mm fan which moves more air since the stock one only moves around 34cfms i think...good luck on that system

btw, my stock 1800+ used to run at around 62C under the current conditions

I guess it depends some on whether loudness vs. quietness is an issue for you. For me, it's a major issue. I'm putting big honkin' heatsinks on my CPU's and 80mm fans (quiet ones). That's a lot quieter than 60mm fans/heatsinks for the same cooling properties. If it will fit, a 92mm fan/heatsink system would be even more efficient that way. What's best at this point, I don't know. I have now defunct AX7's (Thermaltake) heatsinks. However, my CPU's are lower powered (Athlon 1.2 and 1700+).

I picked up the Volcano 11 from newegg. Cpu at 2200 never goes above 45C under full load. It sounds like a f*kn rabid elephant (I dont mind the noise) at 5500rpm but its got a speed controller thingy anyways.

Thanks, I was thinking of the Thermaltake Silent Boost as a purchasing opition. I do want a heatsink that is as quite as possible(sorry, I should have mentioned that). I have a CoolerMaster right now on my XP2100, and it's way too loud. I appreciate the advise.

What CoolerMaster do you have? A friend has the Aero 7 Lite, and it's actually not bad at all and has a speed adjuster knob.
