My current cheapo cPanel guys are incapable of troubleshooting anything and I'm looking to switch hosting. Can anyone recommend someone? I heard asmallorange.com is OK. What'ch y'all got!?!?!?

P.S. Don't recommend madgenius as that's my current hosting provider. :D

I used mddhosting.com with great results. They are one of the highest rated providers on webhostingtalk.com.

Support is their best attribute but I also found that their servers were generally much faster.

1) What's more important to you? Cheap prices or quality? You can't choose both, only one.

2) How much resources (disk space/bandwidth) and what's your current hosting bill (monthly or annual)?

3) Assuming your expectations are realistic, how much disk space, bandwidth and what's your budget?

^^^ great advice here.

1) Search WebHostingTalk.com hosting offers forum. Yes if it it looks to good to be true then it probably is, either an oversold server and/or a kiddy host (15 year running a web hosting business while attending high school and doing household chores).

Make a short list of hosts you're interested in then search the Web Hosting Main Forums for reviews, for example here are a few reviews of ASO (ASmallOrange.com)

MDDHosting.com is an established and reputable web host, you chose wisely. However I'm not sure what the OP's needs or budget is.

This recent thread also discusses web hosts including a few of my suggestions.

If the OP can provide more info, we can offer suggestions and recommendations best suited for their needs.

Just looking for a cpanel host where I don't get locked out for bizarre reasons they can't explain. Don't need much bandwith or storage. Like a GB storage with minimal bandwith, but I need it to FUNCTION..... lol. I'll go with mddhosting.

I would also consider StableHost.com which is more affordable especially if you select annual payment + 50% off first payment coupon.

I've had Stablehost for a couple of years and don't have any complaints. For the price they are great! Plus I like how they email me whenever they will be performing maintenance. My prior host wouldn't let me know anything.

I have a VPS (running LEMP) from RamNode running with a free open source alternative to cPanel, Webmin (and there are other administration control panel packages out there if you don't strictly require cPanel). Pretty happy with it, though I'm more familiar with cPanel.

For cPanel the only other hosts I've used recently are A Small Orange and MadGenius. Haven't had a problem with either, though I've used MadGenius for a few years now (including back when Vivi's hosting was "Vivical") versus having used A Small Orange for only a few months.

Thanks for sharing your personal experience with StableHost, I know about a dozen fellow AT'ers who are also happy with SH.

We're less than 5 months away from Black Friday and I hope they offer a special this year.
