Best course of action for new hard drive.

Im building a new coputer. All the parts are new and i wanted to keep the files of my old computer. What should i do. Should i put the new hard drive in the old system and then back up all the information. Im only gonna have the one hard drive on the new computer for now. or should I use a crossover cable. I have games on there im wondering if it would just be easier to reinstall them. Help much appreciated.

Install the OS on the new computer and then install the old HD as slave and copy all needed files to new HD. Games will have to be reinstalled regardless but you can save all the save-game folders for the games. Be sure to get them all as they hide in strange places. That would be what I'd do.

So your saying put the hard drive in the new computer.
Put the operating system on it.
put it back in the old computer set it as slave and save all the files.
put the hard drive back into new computer as master.

sounds good the sad part is i got every part except the cpu and fan. I got an unopened battlefield 2 sitting here with a 7800gt waiting for it. But unfortunatly ewiz sends UPS and everyone else sends FedEx. Guess whos faster. What a birthday present. : (
