Howardforums

Apparantly the e815 is coming out soon and its supposed to be good. My plan is also up soon, in august.

Edit: Moto e815

The LG VX8100 is also coming out soon, it has a great cameraphone (1.3megapixel i believe)

yeah i've thought about the Razr but I don't think verizon has it. Plus recent reviews aren't too promising.

howardforum is awesome... tons of info, but probably too much to digest in one sitting :)

so is that video on demand service actually out now? seems like gimmick to me

The RAZR can be had unlocked on any GSM network. Cingular might be the only to sell it initially with rebates, but they can be had unlocked, brand new on eBay for a very nominal fee. However, that depends on if Verizon uses the GSM network. This I do not know.

I purchased an unlocked Moto e398 from eBay, and I'm liking it about 95%. This thing hasn't even been released in the US, so it's kind of cool to have a phone that most likely no one you know has one. Has stereo sound, plays MP3's (VERY loudly I might add), and comes with a 64MB transflash card that plugs in under the battery. Even comes with the damn cable to interface with a computer. And did I mention this thing is loud? On the loudest setting, you could very well possibly hear your phone ring from across a four-lane highway.

By the way, I use T-Mobile, so this phone is for a GSM network.

If you go GSM...don't get the RAZR:thumbsdown: it's a POS

the K750i is sweet and so are the new Nokias.

If you want a "cool" phone, you will have to leave verizon.

The treo650 is a cool phone. :D You should have $100 credit for new-every-2 from them also...

Verizon's CDMA, so GSM is out.

I'd wait on the VX8100 personally, I'm very happy with my LG phone and the one my parents got my sister for Christmas is excellent as well. They're super-hackable too, I removed the "Verizon Wireless" banner on mine and was able to load it with all sorts of wallpaper and ringtones by getting the $20 cable from Radioshack and using free software.

Stuff like bluetooth/memory card slots/etc is kind of wasted on VZW phones since they're neutered from the factory. On the V710, pretty much the only bluetooth function you can use is the wireless headset I believe - everything else is disabled so you're forced to use Get It Now.

Edit: I've heard that the New Every 2 credit is applied on the "New Customer" phone price - ie: you get the rebates/etc as well. Read that on HoFo - not sure how true it is, but if that's the case you should be able to get a pretty nice phone for fairly cheap.

I have Sprint, and it is pretty good but if you go off the road or away from cities, it sucks.

Who offers good phones AND good coverage?

according to verizon's website, the new every two feature only applies if I sign up for another 2-yr contract... no way am I gonna do that again. Don't be fooled if you're looking at the same thing.

Still no decision on phone... btw, is there any "retention" plan that I can get coming off a 2-yr contract? Are those hit-and-miss, isolated cases or is there a systematic way to approach Verizon?

Sprint and get Free and Clear American for $5 a month. Roaming problem solved!
