I want to have a quiet quality cooler on the CPU... I won't be over clocking so quiet is my main goal - though good low temps are a benefit too.

That was a great review.

One point though that I would disagree with....
although they mentioned ease of installation for the switech, they said nothing regarding the Zalman.

The Zalman is very easy to install.

Another vote for the Zalman CNPS7000 (either version really), it's pretty silent, performs well and isn't too costly.

I didn't say anything about the ease of the Zalman install because (for whatever reason, I know I've certainly never had any trouble mounting it) I've read multiple complaints about people having trouble installing them. Specifically in getting the screws started. Plus the large size of the 7000 does cause problems on several boards with closely placed NB heatsinks and board components, as well as interference with some PSUs, depending on the placement of the socket on the board. Compared to that the Swiftech is a slam-dunk because it mounts entirely within the confines of the stock P4 retention mechanism and the clip system seems like it would be easier for people to use than the slightly more difficult srew-on method of the Zalman. That said, I personally prefer the Zalman. :)

Oh gee, I hadn't realized you wrote the review yourself. Wasn't trying to dis ya, it was a great review.:D

I have to tell you though, after years of wrestling with really cumbersome clips and then later with through-the-mobo bolts, it was a relief for me to install the screw-on Zalman.

No offense taken at all. I was just trying to clarify my point. :)

Me too, but since I've heard of so many other people having trouble with this easy (to me at least) to mount HSF, I decided to incorporate that issue into my review. I didn't make that super-plain in the review because I didn't want to step on the toes of the dexterity-challenged Zalman mounters out there. :D
