I'm using a basic text signature right now. It's pretty simple but I think it looks good.

Anyone have a signature that they think is "the best"? I notice that a lot of companies are starting to use actual images for their signatures - I think that it's pretty hit/miss... Some are terrible but some look great.

So, who's got the best one?

Don't use images. Plenty of people use mail clients that don't display images, and they don't appear on many mobile devices. Also, your mail might get flagged as junk for sending along a tiny image frequently.

Replace standard disclaimer with a circular 230 disclosure and you got a winner

Short and to the point works best I'd say.

Mine:

clamum
Application Developer
Place of Employment
Phone Number
Email Address (out of two I use for work)

I can get away with

name
department
contact number

I do get amused when I read email signatures that are longer than most email.

name
digital signature
5 lines of contact information
alternate contact information
department
disclaimer1
legal contact information about disclaimer1
disclaimer2
legal contact information about disclaimer2
disclaimer3
<please delete if you are not the intended recipient>

Someone from a company wanting to hire my fiance emailed him and her sig was bright blue and in comic sans... I found it to be a bit odd for someone working at such a prominent company. So stick with something that's classy and to the point as far as I'm concerned.

I think the ones with like 2 pages of information are great. I love when they tell me that if it's not meant for me I should delete it and to read it and send it back, etc etc. Of course I don't et to the signature until after I've read the rest of the email, etc...

Whatever you choose, make sure it looks OK when converted to plain text and don't use any special fonts the the reader might not have on his system.

I hate images in sigs. Also why is it that some companies are still using plain text emails? It drives me nuts, I hate when I format my emails bold, underlined and colored (so that the information is easy to read or to show revision) only to find out it ended up in plain text.

I very rarely e-mail externally on company business, so I just have my phone number, title, length, and department.

All our department stuff is that way...

2008 much? Granted, no one wants to see an image on every reply, but there's nothing wrong with being able to send an image or two over email and using HTML instead of rich or plain text... that's just... plain.
