I read somewhere that when owning a optical mouse it's best to use black mouse pads. or something that's not refective. I currently use a dark blue(not quite navy) mouse pad. Should i think about getting a black one? If someone could elighten me on the subject id appreciate it. Thanks.

Is it actually proven that colors reflect more than eachother when a laser is pointed at them?

If not, then color shouldn't matter.

I thought they didn't need a mousepad. Nonetheless, I use a gray 3M Precise Mousing Surface. It is very thin and works well.

I use a piece of grey plastic. It's got blue lines on it (rules actualy..it's like a drafting mouse pad or something).

Just make sure the surface isn't reflective, and you're fine. They don't need to be black.
