Somone mentioned (jokingly of course) that Miami could not score that many points (referring to the over/under of 31 points) on his high school football team.

How do you think the worst football team (being the niners or dolphins right now) would fare versus the best college teams? How about basketball teams?

The worst football team in the NFL would KILL the best college team. Think about the bench players?

The worst NBA team would still beat the best college basketball team. However, a good college team could beat Team USA this year.

The only time that a college team could beat ANY pro team is if the pro team forgets how to play as a team. That's exactly the case with Team USA basketball, and with the Falcons last year.

I totally agree with this. But to be fair, Team USA didn't have much preparation time.

Team USA never learned how to play as a team, they didnt forget how to, just never learned how to.

That is how the NBA is. Individual players not team play.

Watch a basketball game today, and watch a Lakers-Celtics games from the 80's or early 90's, and that was how the game should be played.

yeah no contest, think about it. how many of those college players on the best team will even make it to the nfl? 5 or so if they are lucky, guess what? every single player on the pro tram made it.

The NFL is made up of the BEST college players that have to prove themselves every year or get axed. They're stronger, faster, and more skilled & experienced.

Only a small number on the best college football team will make it to the NFL.

The only way an NFL team would lose is if they beat themselves.

what about the best college players teamed up on one team to play an NFL team?

Then you'd have the equivalent of a rookie NFL football team, which should still get owned by a more experienced team of players on an NFL team.

he best college players would have to be truly exceptional to distinguish themselves from an older/wiser/matured batch of NFLers who were also cream of the crop at the time they left college.

But really, most of the players drafted into the NFL are only slightly above average for college. The 1st rounders tend to be head and shoulders above the rest, and plenty of them wash out of the league, while lower ones end up succeeding for whatever reason.

That said, I think 99 times out of 100, the Dolphins would own any of the college top-10 teams.

But that 1? I would love to see that :D

Yep.

Think how physical football is, the linemen..etc..

Then realize that everyone of the NFL players made it cause he was one of the best at his position in college. That and I would safely assume that most players in the NFL are stronger than they were in college.

The Womens national basketball team tried to prove how good they were. They played a top tear non NBA pro team and lost. Played a top tear D1 NCAA team and lost. Played a bottom D1 tean and lost. Played a top tear D2 team and lost. Played a Top Jr. College and won on a buzzer beater.

Off topic but I thoug it was funny.

No way... all good arugments....

that's why the ESPN commentators use the phrase, "Hey this OU(or whoever is the best that year) team MAY have a chance against the 49er's(the worst of the year) this year"
