Best college class ever, movie magic

I'm taking intro to film art for my fine art elective and its a special 3.5 hour long class where we watch movies every week, sometimes in the theater, and sometimes at home.

So far I've seen slumdog millionaire in class, and ATOT voted for me to watch "The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly" as homework. Tonight I'm going to watch The Wrestler at the theater. I'll put up another poll if we get another assignment tonight.

Butch Cassidy. I've seen 4/5 on that list and I think BC is the best one of the bunch. Newman and Redford have really good chemistry on screen. You shuld watch The Sting if you get a chance

I own The Magnificent Seven..haven't watched it yet...

I think I've seen the first two, but it's been so long that I don't remember. I'm leaning towards Butch Cassidy as it is. This class rocks btw.

voted 'the good, the bad and the ugly'. if you cant remember it then you've probably never seen it. its just one of those movies that is forever etched into your memory after watching it.

kinda odd with 'el mariachi' in there. its a fantastic movie and influenced by westerns, but the concept is different than that of a a traditional western. perhaps its to appease students that are hesitant to watch a movie before 1990. but of course they could've suggested 'unforgiven' or '3:10 to yuma (2007)'. 'the magnificent seven' could be interesting if they teacher also has a kurosawa week planned in the curriculum. then you could just watch 'seven samurai', which was the basis and inspiration for the american remake 'the magnificent seven'. :)


edit: btw, would it kill ya to watch all of the movies listed??!?! dont have to do them all now... but they all are good movies.

Voted for TGBU...but I'd say Tombstone is my fav.
Unforgiven is up there as well.

Yeah, i'll probably end up watching every movie recommended in the class. But I'm on a time crunch and need to watch/write by next monday.

Also, if students have seen all of the movies, they can certainly go to the teacher for recommends.

Hah, well I watched the Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Definitely enjoyable. And tonight I'm going to watch The Wrestler. Gonna be a real tough class ;)

I took a Kubrick film course in college. Watched 13 Kubrick movies and got credit for it. It doesn't get better than that...

Geez, both movies are fabulous. I like watching Coburn and Brenner in The Magnificent Seven though; the cast they assembled in that movie was fantastic, aside from Hans whatshisname, the kid. Nothing against Redford and Newman, of course, but I prefer them in The Sting.

Didn't Berkeley once offer a course where a requirement of the class included a trip to a strip club, complete with lap dances? That college, for all that some of the academic programs are amazing, is really weird.
