Best codec pack?

I use nimo, but don't install ffdshow from it (at least on my computer with the version of nimo I had). Otherwise, it's perfect

What is SLD?

I know of Nimo - but should I use that or is there something better I should look for?

i dont know whats best i have about 11ty billion codecs installed

Nimo pack
Defiler pack
K-lite pack
Martoska Pack
Divx pro
Xvid
ffdshow
vobsub
dsp2dshow
oggds
subtitlds
ac3 filter

however i never have issues with anything

nimo has way more codecs than you need.... eats up RAM. you can:
1. install divx codec, ac3 filter, ffdshow (the one from 2002, not the recent alphas) and you're set, OR
2. be smart, get vlc media player.

i actually think the k-lite pack has more in it then nimo

if you install divx, Xvid, Ffdshow and ac3 you shouldent have issues with most stuff

ogg is for ogg media files and vodsub/subtilt is for files that have more then 1 language sub title they usially go together with ogg files

martoska takes care of MKV files which are similar to ogm files as they have seperate language and subtitle files

Thanks ... I'm trying out SLD, so far so good.. but the computer i'm currently using is pretty sh1tty (duron 900 with 128MB and integrated video running XP). So the most efficient/lightweight codec packs are best for me!

I honestly think codec packs are worthless considering how frequenly some codecs are updated. I'd rather install what I need when I need it than trust someone else to do it for me.

That's what I was thinking, except that the media player does not always properly update the codecs! So how do you know which codec to download and where to download it? That's the main reason I'm looking for a codec pack.

Also one other related question ... Sometimes when I load a video in (any) media player, the whole screen goes completely blank for 1-2 sec! Only sometimes! I can load one video, and reload it over and over .. and it will only do the blank screen thing once every 2-3 loads. But why? It's really annoying and it didn't always do this!

I was hoping it had something to do with the codecs. But I'm probably wrong...
