Well I am leaning towards either a Motorola RAZR or the Samsung e317. ANybody use either of these? Or, have a better suggestion?

There is no 'best' phone. What do you want out of the phone?

howardforums.com has reviews of service providers and phone models so take a look there I'm sure you'll find what you need. I don't have experience with either of those models so I can't comment. I'm happy with my Motorla v400 though.

 
Yep, I know there is no "best " phone, just looking for experience with either phone, or reccomendations.

 
My gf used the Razor, it does look cool, but she said it's so thin it's not comfortable on the hands while holding it to talk
 
Now that the Razr V3 has dropped in price, it's a much better deal. The phone has a crappy feature set for the price, but the build quality is very high. In that price range the Nokia 6620 smart phone has a lot more to offer.

Best phone for the price is probably the Nokia 6230, but it may not be available in all markets anymore.
 
feature wise, the V3 is exactly same as the bulkier V300. some ppl grip about it, but personally could care less if it could play MP3 or use MMC cards. coz for me, all I need is a phone.

how much are you paying for the samsung, it should be 100 bucks cheaper than the V3.
I haven't use any Motorola before, but I find their interface quite cumbersome. I have used the Samsung e-715 and E-630; feature wise they are okay, but their interface can use some improvement, I reckon the e-317 would suffer similar problems. otherwise, it is a good phone.
if the cost is the same, V3 all the way.
 
the nokia 6010 has the best reception of any phone according to cingular. but it's just a phone, not as trendy as the v3.

I had AT&T, and I like my service a lot better since Cingular took over......

Same with me, reception is much better since Cingular took over... It was a huge improvement over AT&T Wireless

The V3, the V551, the 6230, the 6620, and the E317. $200 for the V3 is much more reasonable, but with rebates the 6620 is a lot more phone, purportedly with better reception, for the same money. But the Razr is much more attractive. Even the V551 has better features than the Razr.

But just check the comparisons and make your own decision based on what's important to you.

I've been fond of the Treo 650... never thought having a PDA would be that useful but I'm thinking of getting one now.
 
anything cingular doesn't sell, have a moto V80 will soon have an unbradeded unlocked treo 650. I also don't have a contract with cingular, so everytime the morons screw up my bill (read monthly) I call and say I'm going to quit if you don't fix it.
