Best choice in Memory

I have a noobish question. Im currently running a rather outdated AMD tower that needs a little bit of an upgrade. My question in would 3 sticks of 512 pc-3200 be better than 2 sticks of 1gig pc-2700. In most systems the choice seems easy, but in this one its a bit different. Im currently running an AMD XP 3200+ in a Giga-Byte GA-7S748 mobo. This mobo has 3 ram slots and can support up to 3 gigs sdram if its only pc2700, but if I use pc-3200 then it can only handle 1.5 gigs. My question is should I give up some speed for size or the other way around? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance.

it depends on if you have a 333mhz or 400mhz FSB.

400mhz FSB = PC3200
333mhz FSB = PC2700

download cpu-z and check what your FSB is.

Thanks for the welcome. I hope to be a member for quite sometime.
My mobo can support 200mhz through 400mhz, currently its running at 200mhz. Thats what was causing me to question this. I know it can support up to pc3200 but at 400mhz it can only handle 1.5 gigs of total memory, but if I use pc2700 I can install up to 3gigs. So I was trying to find out if 512x3 sticks pc3200 would be somewhat equil to 1024x2 or 3 sticks pc2700. Thanks for the reply though.

Thank you all for your answeres. I will be picking up 3 512 sticks of pc3200 soon. Probably Kingston, or Corsair.
