Well I'm pretty young and just looking at some stocks to pretty much play with.

My 401k is 100% stocks though

vBefore you invest in stocks you should probably read:

Benjamin Graham's The Intelligent Investor
Stanley and Danko's The Millionaire Next Door
Malkiel's A Random Walk Down Wall Street

Your library should have all of them. Doing your homework will help you down the line.

Get familiar with fool.com probably too. (but don't pay any attention to their new found love of selling you investment newsletters)

Does your employer let you trade stocks with your 401k? Or are you planning on rolling it over to your IRA?
