Starting to shop around for a mining rig with 1 or 2 gpus max. With the current state we are in, many things are sold out or super expensive. What is a good high efficiency quality reliable PSU that would be fine with a couple gpus mining/gaming. This will just a second box for 24/7 operation as a home server as well.

Super Flower Titanium, Evga P2 line, Seasonic Prime? I am partial to Evga because they have good support and my current PSU is a 650w G2 which has been flawless.

Efficiency because of mining is a concern so I do want at least Platinum, if not Titanium. Though Titanium may be overkill.

Noise is also a priority. Typically the high efficient PSUs are low noise anyways.

Anything in the $100-150 area there?

Consider putting the mining rigs on a (metered) 230-240V PDU. The efficiency increase of most ATX PSUs that are "full range" (most modern PSUs that have APFC) on 240V can be significant, equal to an increase in 80Plus efficiency of an entire grade.

If you're in an apt., look for a 240V plug for a window A/C unit.

This is a good point. To keep the cards cool, you will likely be adjusting the fans up a bit. Not sure I would say screaming, but it also depends on how sensitive you are to fan noise.

plus a pico atx power supply for the mothherboard/cpu and all the pci-e connectors you'll ever need.

Or the ZSX breakout board which has the 24-pin etc connectors so you will only need the server PSU. Platinum rating but loud if you fully load it, you can also daisy chain many of them together.

Yeah and too low wattage to mine on, especially with 2 cards.

I used to run a 4-card mining rig with R9 290s, some of them with the "leaf blower" stock fans. Whooosh.

Anyway you don't absolutely need a platinum-rated PSU. I mined with a 1.2kw EVGA G2 for over a year, no problem. I also had a Seasonic 1250W unit that gave me no end of trouble - had to RMA the first unit, and the replacement was never able to support more than three cards unless one of them was a crappy R7 270.

I would avoid EVGA now since their good lines (G2 and P2) are no longer in production, driving up prices. Their new stuff is of lower quality. You would want a SuperFlower Leadex PSU if you can find one, should you want to relive the glory of your G2 at a higher wattage.

For two cards, you may not need a 1.2kW PSU like I had. 1kW should be the most you would need. Looking at 900W-1200W:

I can already tell you that you will not find something new in the range of $100-$150 that meets your criteria. Not without a discount code or sale or . . . something. I would try for the Rosewill Capstone 1kW if I were on a budget. It wouldn't be my first choice but if all you're doing is mining at a constant power level with very few startups or shutdowns, and as long as you have AC running in the room where it's operating, it should be fine.

Super Flower is my go to PSU maker now. I'd argue they're pretty much the best consumer PSU you can get right now.
