Best (cheapest) place to get protein bars?

I generally go to Albertsons ($1 a pop) or CostCo (2 x 12 for $19, except I don't like the peanut butter and have to get someone to split them) for Zone bars (great taste, decent sugar/fat/protein ratio). But that price, at least at Albies, was pre "this economy", and now usually the best I can do is $1.25 per bar (back in the day, there'd be printout coupons for $1 off 5 bars, so it'd actually be 5 bars for $4, which is great). CostCo is fine, price wise, again assuming I can get someone to split it with me.

When I want something bigger, I go for Met-rx Big 100 meal replacement bars (cookie dough, or something). Those, again, pre "this economy", used to be $1.50ish on sale, which is great since they're like $3 normally.

Anyway, the question is, is there a place online where I can buy these by the box for a reasonable discount, or do I just need to keep checking my grocery stores and get them when they're on sale?

Thanks!

Costco or Sam's is probably the best choice you have available. Why do you need to split it with someone and there is only 24 of them? Its not like they will go bad.

Drugstore.com has decent prices though after shipping than it might price it out unless you are buying $25/50 to get free shipping.

They are offering 10% bing cashback at the moment so now might be a good time for it if you want to stock up.

That said find I find protein rich snacks alot more palatable than bars. Beef/Venison jerky, peanut butter, nuts all taste great and add in some fruit than you can get stuff that is much better for you than a protein bar.

Protein bars will give you carbs, fat and protein but pretty much no vitamins/minerals/fiber that can easily absorbed by the body.

What about the other protein bars costco has? I forget the name, since I just ran out & threw all the boxes out, but they claim to have 15g protein (but it's mostly soy) and 40/30/30 nutrient breakdown. They taste better to me than the zone bars, and I don't get the sugar crash from them, either. Something like $14 for 24, not bad. It's a white box. Should be sitting somewhere near the zone bars.

Edit: Balance was the brand.

I like Detour brand, they taste great, 30g of protien, no trans fat. They also come in low sugar form. Caramel peanut and white chocolate peanut butter flavors are my faves. Not really cheap though.

digitalgamedeals.com
wheycheap.com sometimes has good deals on protein bars. Detour bars were on the site the other day. It's a deal of the day site similar to woot.com but centers around supplements.
