Cost is only half the equation.
The other half is how well the company will handle a claim. Be sure to research that as well.
My family has been with the same insurance agent for 25 years. I wouldn't dream of changing companies. Yes, I'm probably paying more than I would elsewhere, but my agent has ALWAYS been there for us when my family has had to file a claim.
I'm more than happy to pay more in insurance premiums for that kind of service.

It's cheap. I pay 570 for 6 months for my 1996 Maxima. And I am only 23, with an accident.
But I only had one accident which was my fault, with no damage to my car, just the guy I hit. They handled it fine, and very quick, same day. After the accident my rate went up only 10 bucks a month.
I suppose some other companies are better, but the quotes I was getting from them were insane. 1000+ for 6 months. Get real.
Also, I max out the deductible. I can stomach 2K in damages, and insurance isn't for the small stuff, it's for the big stuff. So put higher deductible, and use the savings for higher damage limits.
A few hundred bucks you spend on deductible won't ruin you financially, but a few hundred thousand in damages if you are underinsured surely will.

What do you mean by directly connected? Father? Grandfather? Or do they have to be your spouse/son/daughter
