Best (cheap) way to store CD's?

Well, my Anime CD stack is at 200 CD's and growing, and after trying to search through all of that for one particular episode I have discovered that the "spindle" system absolutely sucks.

I am trying to figure out the best/cheapest way to store all these CD's in a way that makes finding things easy. Those Case Logic 200 CD binders are nice, but they're veeeery expensive, and I know there has to be a cheaper solution. Plus the fact the pages arn't removable drives me nuts. I was thinking about buying a decent 3" binder and some blank CD pages, but knowing what these binders do to my papers, I am a bit worried at what they're gonna do to my CD's (you know, the way the huge binders tend to snag pages whenever you close them).

So, anyone out there with a huge stack of CD's have any advice?

I go to my local office supply store and buy another CD binder. Office Depot, Office Max, and Staples all carry them. They are not that expensive (I think I generally spend about $35 on a binder) and you can organize your CDs by binder and section. You can add separator pages if you are really organized, I'm not that organized.
 
Ive always been a fan of CD Towers, as you can keep the CDs in their jewel cases, and keep them protected. Jinda takes up a lot of space when you get over 500 cdo though
 
If you want to really get fancy - get a used 200 cd capacity audio cd changer that has digital control capabilities (search E*ay for "cd changer 200)
you won't be able read data discs, but no reason you can't use it to store and retrieve discs - or am i wrong?
 
All the CD changers I have used have been a pain to take the CD in and out of.

Also, Chu seems to be looking for storage of his Anime CDs, not music CDs.
 
I believe CompUSA has a sale on it's 208 CD Binder for $19.99. Check out this thread on the Hot Deals forum. Hope this was helpful.

LMAO - The guy asks for a cheap place to put his cds, and you suggest a 200 disc changer for storage purposes only.

With all the hot deals I've taken advantage of in the past 6 months I got the following CD storage cases for around $40 after rebates:

264 cap ($20), 208 cap ($20), 128 cap (free), 64 cap (free).

Just keep your eye out in the Hot Deals forum, these offers come up almost every week.😛
 
I'm a simple guy. Most of my CDs are either in those slim jewel cases ($0.05/each during the deals) or in windowed tyvek sleeves. All of these sit in a cardboard box that's just widenough and tall enough so I can flip through them with ease.
 
I personally am a fan of caselogic cases, though recently at wallmart there was a sale on cdprojects 72 disc cd holders. It was $6 for one case so I bought three of them because I wasn't really sure if they were good cases.
 
Definately the binder route - and there's two choices:
1) a pre-made "book" where it zippers shut, usually cloth-like in material, contains sheets with sleeves inside, or...
2) a big, cheap regular binder with CD-holding plastic insert sheets. Doesn't look as fancy but could be more convenient... maybe a little cheaper. Maybe not. But you can do it. 😉
 
This is probably useless but on the wild chance that you have access to a source of old 5.25 disks, the sleeves that they used to be stored in work great for CDs also. They don't add much bulk and do a good job of protecting the disks. Gee, then after you get finished throwing out the old floppies you could store the CDs in the floppy storage cases.

Doesn't everyone have a couple of hundred 5.25s in the back corner of their closet? I do.
 
I have over 400 cds with Anime on them, and the best and cheapest way to store them is unfortunatly the spindle system for me... I sort all the anime by the letters of their first name... Escaflowne goes in the "E-G" spindle, etc... you only have 200 cds, so you can make spindles, A-G, H-O, P-Z, like that... works for me 😉
