Got a unique problem.

I may be able to swing an Olympus 3030 digital camera for my Olympus BX50 microscope at work. However, one of problems with taking pix on a microscope, especially at low magnification, is getting things in proper focus. (Focusing the microscope, not the camera). The digicam has a video out however. I was thinking of using a video in on a video card to use my monitor for focusing. Not the best solution, but better than using the tiny LCD screen on the camera.

All I care about is 2D. I will NOT be doing any 3D, so don't tell me to get a Radeon or something. I wanna spend $150ish, bearing in mind that our IT guys are a bit resistant to using Matrox cards for whatever reason. This is for NT 4, on a noname PII 350.

P.S., I also have a PowerPC 7600/120 Mac in my office doing nothing at the moment, and it has a video in, but it's slow as hell and I don't have a clue as to how to use the video in on the damn thing.

Um, under 150 dollars? You *could* get the Rage Fury Pro, maybe an Elsa TNT2? I think those might have Video in...not sure what else you could get.

Seems like the perfect solution would be to get a TV to help with your focusing. All the TV-ins I've seen are pretty fuzzy.

But if you insist, any of the inexpensive TV-tuner cards also have video in. Something from Hauppage, or maybe ATi TV Wonder, maybe? Less than $50.
