What are some older games that can be found at a bargain? I tried to fire up the original half life to play TFC or CS, but could find no people playing it any longer. Maybe the servers are down since HL2 came out.

unreal tournament 2k4 is bargain bin in some stores with 2k7 coming out this year.

Saw at least 2 dozen TFC servers the other day. Just had to take the latency filter up a bit.


 
WarRock is a BattleField2 style game and is 100% free (pretty good too IMHO)
America's Army 2 - another good free shooter
 
Enemy Territory if you want an online FPS.

Chronicles of Riddick wasn't expensive when it was released, so you should be able to find a cheap copy now.
 
Theres always America's Army if you like shooters.
Then theres "The Ur-quan masters" (free) if your a Starcontrol2 fan.
Also Grand Theft Auto: Vice city is like $15 CDN and its fun.
Starcraft shouldn't be too expensive now if you want the best RTS.


EDIT: I don't know if you can find them or if there cheap but the PC versions of FF7 and FF8 are great if you like RPG's.

runescape has kept me pretty occupied, tho i pay the $5 per month for member access.

I pay the $5 too... it's totally worth it. What is your username there? I ran into Forummaster (from ATOT) there and he hooked me up with some nice stuff! I'm usually online late in the evening, and since I'm in AK the rest of the country is generally asleep due to our time zone being where it is.
 
There's so many -

FarCry, as someone else already mentioned, and the Serious Sam Series of games . . . of course, with the short pricing cycle of PC games, I don't think it'd hurt for you to go check out the local game store and look through the bargain bin - I'm sure you'd find some great games for less than $20.
 
Fate from WildTangent games - good for hours and hours of fun - diablo-clone-ish game, but plenty of replayability! $20
