Best cheap DVD player...

old toshiba dvd player i gave my parents just died...

all they need is a cheap dvd player to play only store bought discs (no dvdr, no mp3, no jpegs, etc)

Apex used to always be the name mentioned, but it dosen't seem they are sold any longer locally....

I've heard the Philips DVP642 is decent. Cheap and has divx support.

Track down a Panasonic XP30...its a few years old (discontinued model), so you should be able to pick it up for cheap. The internals of it are the same as the much lauded RP82. For details, check out the following link:

In the search bar, tell it to show ALL the players, then just limit yourself to the top of the list...you probably can't afford / find the first few. (i.e. Denon DVD-5910 = $3500 US)

Speaking of which, one of my Toshiba's just died too... last Toshitba I ever buy.
