bottom round... :D

just kidding... yep top sirloin is about as cheap as I'll get on steaks. KC Strip is my favorite (well, besides filets but those are only for special occasions :))

Yeah, you can grill flank. But you have to cut it thin and pound the hell out of it before you put the fire to it. I mostly cube flank steak and add it to stews.

Krogers and Harris Teeter might have some sale this week to clear out the inventory that was built up for the 4th of July.

Flank steak and skirt steak are two cuts that have good flavor but are a little tougher. You can make them more tender through marinating them. Cooked properly, they can both be delicious! :)

If you don't like marinating your steak, sirloin is probably the best choice if you want to save a few bucks. It's not as tender as filet, NY, ribeye, porterhouse, etc. but it's still good.

Kroger had it on sale BEFORE the 4th ;)

Going to marinate it for a couple of days....haven't had a chance to cook it yet.

I wish. Usually on par or more than NY Steaks. Rib Eye's are usually more tender, as they have lots of fat on/in them. Usually have a really nice marble to them. Makes em all nice and juicy when ya cook em. My Costco's Ribeyes are usually about $.50 more per lb than the New Yorks.

Flank steaks are also VERY nice. We marinade for a few hours with just some Olive Oil and rosemary. Mmmmm....having that tonight actually :)

Heh, we just hit Costco up on Saturday. 6 Ribeyes (two 3-packs) and a 2-pack of Flanks. Our freezer looks like a meat locker :D

I work at Ryan's steakhouse and run the steak buffet. We offer all you can eat sirloin and ribeye costs extra.

I would assume sirloin is the best cheapest steak because I probably serve up 500 8 oz steaks on a busy night- and I would assume Ryan's corp would make a good choice for the steaks that they would be serving up in such mass quantity. In general sirloin steak is pretty good, sometimes the cuts are better than others.

Flank steak is very inexpensive here in Canada. ;)

Seriously it is cheap, but can be tough.

Blade steak is basically the same thing.

I just wait for the grocery store to have it on sale .. and then i usually buy Porterhouse steaks. Sometimes they are as low as 3.99 per pound.
