Best CFM:dBa 120mm fan? SilenX? A1926? Panaflo? Evercool?

Best CFM😀Ba 120mm fan? SilenX? A1926? Panaflo? Evercool?

Silenx has 120mm fans that are 58CFM and 14dBA, which is almost a 4.5:1 noise ratio.
Thermaltake's A1926 is 79 CFM and 21 dBa, which is almost a 4:1 noise ratio.

Are these companies lying? Do they actually blow THAT much air at such a LOW noise level? Im planning to replace my entire case cooling setup. Right now my case is full of fans with 40-48.5dBa and 100+ CFM. Im running them on my fan controller and even when it's all turned down, I still hear noise in the background. I want to change this completely but I want to keep good cooling performance. I need some 120mm fans that can push huge amounts of air at LOW noise levels.

If the two I listed above are scams, then I'll probably have to go with Panaflos 120x1203x38 Medium, 86.5CFM @ 35.5dBa and run it through my fan controller...or Evercool's Aluminum 80CFM @ 30dBa..

Recommend me something I can't refuse!!!

The SilenX specs are definately a lie, TT is borderline believable.

If you want absolutely no noise, then I can recomend the GlacialTech SilentBlade. Only 38 CFM, but it's virtually noiseless, and is easily out...noised (hello word) by other components (VGA/CPU cooler mainly). I have two of them in my case and can't hear them at all.

Other than that, Nexus, Panaflo and Yate Loon are the most popular manufacturers. I have no first hand experience with them, but most people do and can recommend them with good reason.

They're lying.

If you're obsessed with airflow, get an aluminum evercool and undervolt it to the minimum you need to start up evertime. That should do you fine. Of course, in my system I only need 650rpm to cool off my computer adequately, but that's because I have a relatively non-rats nest wiring job.

Its not possible to get "huge amts of air" at low noise unless you are losing your hearing. Look at the Nexus specs. ~1000rpm>22.8dBA>36.87cfm. Use that as your reference to compare other fans. It will make you wonder how some companies can make the claims they do. Panaflo is not quiet until you undervolt/pwm it. They ramp down nicely and undercut their cfm specs. I think they push a bit more than they claim. I haven't used that Evercool, but they are well spoken (is that a word?) of at SPCR. I would chose the Pannie L1A in your case. The deciding/key factor is your case temps via case airflow. With those two maximized, you don't need 80cfm on your HS. Doesn't matter how many cfms you push when its pushing warm case air.

GlacialTech SilentBlade GT12252BDL (120mm)
37 CFM @950rpm and 19db
Specs are believable.
dual ball bearing... 9 bladed fan
2.4 watts .. 0.20 amp .. 12v.
Mine (3) are running at 1000rpm avg.

Thanks for all the awesome responses.

almost decided to go water, but read some reviews, i thought i could go for the cheap $100 premade kits but tehy suck..

im getting a venice 3000+ or 3200+ and im overclocking it 800-1ghz....
im cooling it with a si-120, xp-120 or xp-90...... what fan do you recommend? it has to perform decently cause 1GHZ OC is a lot.. ideally temps of < 50 are wanted..

also:

im running a x850xt on stock cooling but im gonna upgrade cooling to ati silencer 5 soon..

im also going to buy 1-2 more hdds so ill have 2-3 hdds in total..

my antec 3700 takes 2x120mm fans.. so i need decent airflow in and out of case..

BUT I WANT TO BE AS QUIET AS POSSIBLE!

Even some water cooled systems have fans...judt thought ya might like to know...
Yet there are some water cooling systems that are passive that are very nice....
Such as the zalman Reserator 1 Plus....

I believ thermaltake also has a fanless called the Rocket--

I would chose the Panaflo L1A in your case. It best suits you with what you are planning on doing w/ your system. Put them on a controller or dnld SpeedFan if the noise bothers you.

lextrix: I have the x800 xt pe, I used the Zalman ZM80C heatpipe cooler and have mounted a 92mm Nexus fan on it, by using screws that allow me to use the groove meant for the ZMOP-1 fan. I get the exact same cooling at stock, and a lot quieter. You might find that a bit more versatile as you can use whatever fan you want, as fast or quiet as you wish.

Dude that looks freakin awesome..

But what's price and how effective is it?

Plus, I dont care much about water cooling my video card, I could just get an ATI Silencer 5 for that 😀.. ITS ALL ABOUT TEH CPU!

the question then is.. which fans have a considerable amount of CFM but <= 30 dBA?

upon conclusion, these two are the ones i have found:

Evercool 120x25, 79CFM, 30dBA..ball bearing
Panaflo L1A 120x38, 69CFM, 30dBA..HydroWave

which one is better + quiter on a SI-120?

Panaflo and Papst offer the best CFM😀Ba ratio. Nexus and Yate Loon offer the lowest dBa out there. Delta offers the highest CFM out there.

Take your pick 😉

Nexus, Panaflo (120mm fans not as good though), Yate Loon, and Pabst are the best there are.

Antecs are noisier, but not BAD.

i got my CPU Fan decided now, panaflo 120x38 L1A..

but

got a problem now, i forgot my case only takes 120x25mm fans, cant fit panaflo 120x38s :\.. whats the best 120x25 fan that blows the most CFM @ < 30 dBA?

Yea, but you had said 120x25 for your case. That pannie is a 120x38 so yes, it will push more air, but its not what you had asked for. You could softmount the 120x38 pannie directly to the case w/o the use of your fan cages (which I assume is why you cannot install the 120x38's into your case). If you want quiet, then the fans I linked are quieter than the pannies. G-Luck whatever you go with 🙂

Dude if you can put up with a little noise, get the sunon. I got one and I'm pretty happy with it. 😀

Air Flow: 108CFM
Noise Level: 42dBA
RPM: 3100RPM

just so you know, 30dBA is pretty loud. that's rougly a 2000RPM 120mm fan, you'll likely hear it over your stock CPU heatsink

Very true, but im running a Panaflo 120x38 on my SI-120.. I'm gonna most likely undervolt it when im not gaming.. thats 30 dBA right there.. why not get case fans that blow 30 dBA too.. and undervolt them too? That's my whole plan, maybe it wont work as I thought it would.. and is there a way i can put in 120x38 fans without using those fan cages?

Just to let you all know, im running 3 loud fans right now, 38dBA intake, 40dBA CPU, 48dBA outtake.. I have them all running on absolute minimum w/ my fan controller yet it's still pretty loud and I can STILL hear it from upstairs.. When I move to strictly < 30dBA and under, and combined with my fan controller, I hope I notice a huge improvement!

Thermaltake's A1926 is 79 CFM and 21 dBa, which is almost a 4:1 noise ratio.

That is a MEANINGLESS ratio!

CFM is a linear unit.
dBa is a logarithmic unit.

If you double CFM, you double the amount of air moved.
But, if you double the dBa value (to keep the ratio constant), you will not necessarily double the noise since dBa is on a log scale.

So, the ratio is useless.

If you really want to do this, you should convert dBa to a linear unit and then find the ratio.
